Headbands for cold ears

It might sound like a strange thing but after a long hard day of crocheting there is nothing I like better and a relaxing evening of crocheting.

By this I mean amigurumi is what I love, its my day job but there is a lot of thinking that goes along with it and creating the patterns and sometimes I like to do a bit of crochet That I don't have to think about so on an evening I can usually be found making hats and scarfs and headbands.

I was quite shocked just how many I made when I gattered them together for my last craft fair and so I thought it was about time I got some listed in my etsy shop

All these headbands are made to fit my sort of size head but they were tried on by everyone from todlers to gannys at the craft fair and they fit pretty much everyone. I raided my stach of vintage buttons again to decorate the flowers and they are all made from cosy chunky yarns to keep your ears warm at this chilly time of year.

Jean the omnipom

With my family of omnipoms very much depleted by last weekends craft fair I though it was about time to get my crochet hook out and make some more.

When making omnipoms the first things I make are the arms which are fully jointed and the eyes. Making the arms is the only boring part of the process so I tend to make quite a few at a time to get it out of the way. I had made 4 sets of new arms when I found this ball of washed out denim coloured multi yarn in my stash and on a whim decided to make a couple of arms with it to see how it crocheted up. I liked the arms so much that I couldn't stop there and before long Jean was born.

I have given her beige almond shaped eyes stitched in pale blue to match the yarn and I've used a copper embroidery thread for her other detailing and flower. She also has a new design of ear, while not as long as the other bunny omnipoms I like the fuller effect of these ears have so I'm sure we'll be seeing more of them.
Sorry about the poor picture quality, these dark days and nights are not great for taking photos.

I have to work at the old day job today but when I get home I'm going to continue my listing frenzy on etsy and Jean will be there looking for a new home along with some of my other amigurumis :)

christmas craft fair

I haven't had much time to blog lately cause I've been working like mad for the past 4 weeks  to get ready for this weekends craft fair. I booked to do a two day weekend Christmas craft fair at the main furniture company in Green hammerton near york. Its a great craft fair set in a lovely open warehouse full of some of the nicest hand crafted furniture I've seen.
I made meters and meters of Christmas bunting, lots of scarfs and headband to warm little ears, pincushions for lonely pins and hand embroidered tree ornaments.

I really shouldn't have worried as the amiguramis were the hit of the weekend. All the omnipoms and nearly all my other amigurumis have found new homes and I've been given some great ideas for new amigurumi that I'll be making soon.

This was my table at the start of the fair, I didn't take a photo but it was very depleted by the end of the weekend :)
The felt birdies and hand embroidered ornaments went down well too. I still have a few left so I'll be listing some in my etsy shop over the next couple of days

I'm very tired tonight but I'm also itching to get started on some new projects. There are some new omnipoms coming up soon including a Ziggy stardust inspired one and I've a few little Christmas amigurumi patterns up my sleeve that you'll be able to whip up in no time to add to your festive decorations.
For now I think I deserve a glass of wine and to put my feet up for the night (I give it 10 mins before my fingers start itching to get cracking crocheting again I'm hopeless) :D

I'm linking in with handmade Monday I've missed a couple of weeks so I've some lovely blog reading to catch up on
